What is a plough mixer?
A plough mixer is a horizontal batch mixer with plough-shaped tools that create rapid radial and axial particle movement. It is also commonly called a ploughshare mixer or plow mixer.
When is a plough mixer better than a ribbon mixer?
A plough mixer is generally preferred when the material is cohesive, liquid addition is substantial, agglomerates must be broken, or a very short intensive cycle is required.
Do all plough mixers need choppers?
No. Choppers are selected when the application needs localized high shear, deagglomeration or improved liquid dispersion.
Can a standard plough mixer include a jacket?
Yes, a standard non-ASME mixer can include a low-pressure heating or cooling jacket. Vacuum, pressure, ASME and ATEX executions are handled under QuantumX.
How is a plough mixer cleaned?
Cleaning access depends on the product and hygiene requirement. Options include large flush doors, removable tools, polished contact surfaces, spray devices and dry-cleaning provisions.
