How to Size an Industrial Ribbon Mixer

A practical sizing framework covering working volume, bulk density, drive torque, fill range and the complete batch cycle.

Begin with the actual batch

Convert the maximum and minimum batch mass into working volume using realistic loose and operating bulk density. Gross vessel volume is not usable working volume.

Confirm the operating range

Ribbon geometry must remain sufficiently engaged at the minimum batch while leaving enough free space for product circulation at the maximum batch.

Evaluate torque and the complete cycle

Cohesion, moisture, liquid addition, startup under load, loading time, discharge area, cleaning access and residual heel all influence selection.
